This seems to work well, there are always new guys playing and almost everyone is friendly and helpful.
So the experienced players never gang up on the newbies and everyone learns from each other. In multiplayer, we have a system for automatically setting up random scenarios that makes sure new or inexperienced players have only a few regiments and are on a team with more experienced players who can help them out. With all the Napoleonic uniforms it's going to look great. Here's what the civil war game looks like now - note this is a tiny portion of a massive multiplayer battle. This will be the perfect battle engine for a Napoleonic strategic MMO. The current game also provides support for third party campaign systems / scenario generators / random maps / etc, so I expect that will remain. There is already a Napoleonic mod for the civil war engine, but SOW Waterloo will probably support unique Napoleonic gameplay much better. Note that Scourge of War Gettysburg is currently on sale for $20.Īlso, if you're not familiar with the Scourge of War series, they make their games extremely mod-friendly. I'm sure Waterloo will only be an improvement. This is much larger scale than Total War games, with much more realistic tactics. Scourge of War Gettysburg has been played with up to 22 players in multiplayer with 80,000 troops on 5x5 mile maps. This will be the best Napoleonic real time tactical battle game when it comes out.
